I walk. For some time it has irked me that I have never worked out how to measure my perambulations. I have now managed to do this on MyMaps which looks okay. Today I walked this route. It was a bit chilly, not windy and although overcast quite a clear sky.

Preston Road Estate: Area cleared for new housing

This area was recently described as a ghost estate in a local newspaper article. It had been an area of around 500 homes all mainly social housing. All the houses had been brought up to the latest Decent Homes standard and all had gardens. The estate was built between 1922 and 1928. The redevelopment will be a mixture of social housing and private ownership. The area once had a vibrant community but pressures from various schemes of enhancements broke down the small, local groups and almost everything withered and died.

This is one of the many dredger working on the Humber

This is one reason I walk this route. This destination, this view. As we approach 2021 with 2020 a shadow that does not need a light source stuck to December’s heels I feel the need of distraction. I have a project in mind to map a route from a different place on to Hull.
